Safeguarding

Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of the children and protect them from harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child, protecting children from abuse and maltreatment, preventing impairment of children’s health and development, ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care, and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Puddleducks Nursery & Pre-school recognises that children of all races, disabilities, religion, gender, sexuality, age, cultures, political or immigration status, and social backgrounds may be subject to abuse. Disabled children must receive the same level of protection from harm as other children, they are more vulnerable to abuse. All children have the right to grow up in a safe environment from harm and exploitation.

All staff appointed undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) before being left with the children. Health checks and references are also completed before a member of staff is employed.

At Puddleducks we have a designated safeguarding officer who works closely with staff and outside agents when needed. All staff are trained in safeguarding and are aware of our policies and procedures.
