Owls

3 year - 5 year

Children move from Butterflies to Owls pre-school room. They continue to work on The Foundation Stage Curriculum before moving on to their first school. We are committed to providing your child with ‘Quality Learning Experiences’ and we monitor and observe closely to ensure that each child takes steps towards the Early Learning Goals. We spend quality time on providing each child with a good foundation in basic skills.

In Owls pre-school room we provide lots of opportunities to learn and develop through fun and engaging activities.

Owls room has an outdoor play area that is open for free flow so the children can enjoy being inside or out. The area is enclosed so the children can access this in all weathers. All areas of learning are available outside as well as inside.

To get children ready for big school we offer a wide range of activities to develop their independence and become confident speakers.

All children are involved in the day to day running of the room following children's interests, making their own decisions, and listening to and valuing each other’s opinions. Following the EYFS curriculum, children learn through play accessing all areas of their learning through mark making, stories, gardening, sports, music and movement, sensory and exploration, learning about the world around us and learning about ourselves, and lots more.

Children will become aware of letters and numbers through daily activities and be ready for their next big adventure at ‘BIG’ school.

In the summer term before starting school the children will celebrate their time with us at Puddleducks with a graduation party to mark this milestone.

Transfer from room to room

The transfer of children from one class to another is carefully planned, The child, parents, and the staff all play an important role in the transition. Children initially visit their new class with their keyworker from their existing room. These visits are short and spread over a period of time. Parents are introduced to the new staff of the room, meet the new keyworker, and see the new room. Children move only when they are ready.
