Caterpillars

16 Months - 2 years

Children move from Bumblebees class to Caterpillars. The room has been carefully adapted to meet the changing needs of our ‘toddlers’ which enables children to learn to take risks alongside developing their curiosity, co-ordination, and physical skills. Our homely atmosphere encourages our youngest children to grow with confidence and independence.

Initially, your child will learn to socialise and establish positive relationships with both adults and children. In Caterpillar’s class, we focus on language development and understanding while learning how to play and share fairly. Above all, they will experience that learning is fun!

Caterpillars children are able to explore in our large outdoor area which ensures fresh country air and the opportunity to discover their natural environment. We have undercover soft play areas and all in one suits to allow the children to splash in puddles and make the most out of the outdoor area. This allows the children to be able to go out in all weather come rain or shine. We also have pushchairs to be able to take them on walks around the country park and surrounding walks to explore the beautiful environment.

Transfer from room to room

The transfer of children from one class to another is carefully planned, The child, parents, and the staff all play an important role in the transition. Children initially visit their new class with their keyworker from their existing room. These visits are short and spread over a period of time. Parents are introduced to the new staff of the room, meet the new keyworker, and see the new room. Children move only when they are ready.
